The last you knew I had set off on my big adventure, one that would take all around the western side of the country. And adventure I did! I explored deserts, mountains, and I saw some truly insane trees. I’ll write more about that later but Abby tells me you’ve been asking about me so I thought I’d tell you about what’s going on with my day to day and what I’m planning.

First, I got an apartment, that’s right I live in a real building with running water, power, and new neighbors. I know you’re probably wondering, where did she decide to settle in? Southwest Detroit! I live in a little town called Mexicantown, it was founded in the 20’s and has the best little grocers, food trucks, bakeries, and a really cool community. I live downstairs from Cole, he went to college with me – so I’ve got a friend right upstairs. If I’m being honest it’s like being in college in my 30’s, without the demerits and whatnot. Overall I’m getting settled in and learning what it’s like to be a city girl. It’s really cool to have so many shows, free events, and great public spaces. Here are a few snapshots of my house as I’m moving in!

Oh and I’m on the job hunt! If you’re in need of any operational services, or would like to pay me for my personality I’m open to offers. I’ve applied for a plethora of jobs ranging from the service industry and any outdoor jobs I can to general administrative positions and more niche operational work. I’ve also gotten my hands on a soldering gun recently and am in the market for a ring press – so look out for potential jewelry on the horizon. Overall I’m spending my time like it’s mine right now, because I’m paying for it but soon I’ll be in another job – hopefully one that I really enjoy! I’m looking forward to work, and having a bit more of a set schedule and honestly I’ve got some energy to put into something so I’m trying to pick the right thing.

I know you’re really wondering how Oscar is doing with the transition, he’s a little grumpy but likes his space. Naturally he has multiple pillows on the floor, and various lounging areas throughout the apartment. He does slip around on the floors but I got a rug and he likes to run on that. We have a few local dog parks and he loves to go for a walk at Clark Park. We just went up north with Cole and Cornbread and they got to wander for 2 days in the woods so that charged up his outdoor all day heart.

My fashion is just taking off, and by that I mean I’m wearing lots of cute outfits around. Living near things and people means my calendar stays booked up. But you know what they say, if you have the clothes you better wear them, or something like that. I went to the Michigan Renaissance Festival last weekend with some friends and it was so cool, it’s a very large old worldy town and you can walk around, watch a joust, grab a snack, and potentially get arrested by the town sheriffs if you’re just unlucky enough. I’ll write more on it later. Fashion is another reason I picked Detroit. The outfits here are so cool, and people are pretty resourceful and creative in their fashion. There are a few events coming up for clothing and fashion – I’ll tell you about them if I attend!

Overall, I’m a little overwhelmed and scared in a good way. I think I needed to settle in for a bit, but I don’t know if its the end of my nomadic lifestyle or just a new genre? I want to spend some time with my nephews, grow some roots in this city and see what it’ll teach me. I’m still planning to head south for at least a vacation because my heart is still in many places at once and I feel it’s pull to you all and the life I’ve created, and the family I’ve found. Well, I guess I’ve got to end the update somewhere, I’ll post again soon – Love ya Pop!
